Today is Good Friday.

Today is the day that Jesus died on the cross over 2,000 years ago.

Today is the day that where all the things that drive us to shame and guilt, whether it’s because of mistakes you have made or from certain situations you have faced, have been laid before our Lord and He treats us as if they never even happened.

Hebrews 8:12 NIV says,

12 “For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

On this day 2,000 years ago, grace invaded our lives. Because of this day, there is nothing too great, messy, awful, stressful, tragic, dark or too heart-breaking that His goodness cannot help you overcome. Because of this day, we are able to see our true, redeemed and deeply-loved self reflected in the cross of Jesus. This glorious day makes it possible for you to see yourself as God sees you. Because of this day, we do not have to stay bound to the mistakes we’ve made. Jesus’ death allows us to be FREE from the burden of our own sin.

1 Peter 2:24 TPT says,

24 He himself carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we would be dead to sin and live for righteousness. Our instant healing flowed from his wounding.

It’s hard to image the word “JOY” being apart of this story, but it does. I can’t even begin to understand the physical pain Jesus endured that day, but yet the Bible says that He had joy.

Hebrews 12:2 ESV says,

2 “…for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

The JOY that was set before Him was US. He did what He did for you and me. His suffering brought Him joy because it was for you and me. It was all for our benefit.

Jesus’ death on the cross allowed us to have access to everything good God has planned us.

It allows us access to His:

Love. Grace. Mercy. Peace. Goodness. Healing. Redemption. Reconciliation. Power. Strength. Wisdom. And his Resurrection!

So, on this day of remembrance, let’s not forget how love came down and took our place.

May we never forget the sacrifice that was made for our behalf so that we could be in right standing with God.

On this day 2,000 years ago, our Savior died on the Cross… but on the third day, He Resurrects!

Prayer :

Jesus, thank you for restoring us and carrying the weight of our sins on your back. Your love for us is unfathomable. Father, you are so good — you are so great. I believe there is nothing greater. Thank you for your sacrifice. I pray that I may never forget.
