uncommon faith -pt. 2
Welcome back to Part 2 of our Mini Series : Uncommon Faith!
If you haven’t read part one, you can do so here on my website. But no matter what, we are going to do a little re-cap.
We talked about how we can develop an uncommon faith by :
Receiving Jesus as the developer of our faith.
Making the Word of God the final word.
If you are feeling stuck in your faith, then this blog is for you! Together we can work on developing our faith for some uncommon breakthroughs! Whether its for you marriage, your children, your finances, your job… Let’s believe for the impossible! 2021 is the year where we say ENOUGH to average living and YES to extraordinary living! Living exactly how God created us to live!
The past few weeks my Pastor has been teaching on a similar topic about the Word of God and why it is so important for us to feed on it.
He gave us some statistics that may shock you a little but about four-in-ten Christians (42%) said reading the Bible or other religious materials is an essential part of what being Christian means to them personally. An additional 37% say reading the Bible is important but not essential to being a Christian, and 21% say reading the Bible is not an important part of their Christian identity.
I would say we have a problem right here. SO, the stats basically state that very few people actually read the Word of God.
We have a feeding issue. We have a craving issue. We have a desire issue.
My Pastor taught on 1 Peter 2:2 this past week,
2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,
Craving the Word of God is essential to developing our Uncommon Faith.
SO, how can we continue to develop our Uncommon Faith?
You may be shocked at this one LOL…
3. Continually Feed on the Word.
Matthew 4:4 says,
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Our physical bodies were not made to live on one meal per week. We all know that is crazy talk right there. Well, your spirit is the same. Just as your physical strength will dwindle, so will your spiritual strength. When a trial comes, weak faith will do you no good. You need a strong spirit to respond with boldness and faith-filled power.
The Word of God is faith food for your spirit. It keeps your faith strong and ready for anything.
The Word of God is as necessary to your life as food. When you continually feed on the Word, you are depositing into your spirit, and it builds a reserve. You can’t wait until a crisis comes to try to develop your faith—you need a fresh supply, so it will be on the tip of your tongue. You won’t hesitate—you’ll speak boldly over your situation and be confident that it is handled.
I know that I am not the only one that has made the mistake of trying to “catch up” on our spiritual meals. This is a new beginning. It is time to take a stand and build a reserve of strength from God’s Word. So when we are faced with trials, we are ready!
How else can we develop our Uncommon Faith?
4. Meditate on the Word.
Joshua 1:8 NLT says,
8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Maybe you’re asking, What’s the difference between feeding on the Word and meditating on the Word?
Well, feeding on the Word is reading and learning what God has to say. Meditating is spending time thinking and thinking about it, and then applying the Word to your situation.
Applying the Word of God to your situation will become second nature when you have immersed yourself in faith. The best way to learn faith is the same way you learn a foreign language—total immersion. When you immerse yourself in an atmosphere of faith and let it be the only language you speak—it will be your first line of defense in any situation.
You can’t have faith in His Word if you don’t know what His Word says.
I understand it may be hard to read and difficult to pay attention, but my Pastor always says, “If your Bible is falling apart, then your life isn’t.”
The Word of God is God-breathed. (2 Timothy 3:16) It is Him trying to speak to us… And here we are complaining that we can’t hear God. We even say that He doesn’t speak to us, but He does. Not only to us personally but also through His Word!
We can’t say God’s mouth has remained closed towards us while our Bible has yet to be opened. - Pastor Johnny Olivardia.
If you want to have Uncommon Breakthroughs in your life, then you need Uncommon Faith. We need to crave and feed on the Word of God. We need to desire to meditate on it day and night so that when we are facing difficult situations, we know how to be battle ready.
God’s desire for you is to live extraordinary. To live outside of the box that you may have put yourself in. It’s time to say ENOUGH to average living.
Join us next week as we continue this journey on how to live with an Uncommon Faith. I hope you have been enjoying this!
